Painters in Federal Hill, Baltimore

We paint Federal Hill rowhomes inside and out, with most of our work here on the interior: walls, trim, and ceilings in the neighborhood’s historic brick houses. Tell us what you have going and we’ll take a look.

Painting in Federal Hill, MD

Federal Hill sits just south of the Inner Harbor, one of Baltimore’s oldest neighborhoods, named for the hill where Maryland celebrated ratifying the Constitution in 1788. The streets are lined with brick rowhomes built roughly between the 1830s and 1900, in Greek Revival and Italianate styles, many with plaster walls and original trim inside. Some wear formstone fronts, others have restored brick and roof decks looking over the harbor.

Cross Street Market has anchored the neighborhood since 1846. It’s a walkable, in-demand area, so we do a steady run of interior repaints, plenty of them before a house goes on the market. Federal Hill is about a mile from downtown, close to home for a Baltimore crew like ours.

Historic rowhome interiors

Federal Hill's rowhomes go back to the 1800s, with plaster walls, original trim, and narrow stairs. We prep and patch carefully so the fresh coat sits right.

Historic-district facades

The neighborhood is a CHAP historic district, so exterior changes get reviewed. We paint within that, and inside your rowhome there's no such restriction.

Licensed & Insured

Fully licensed and insured, and the owner is the one on your job. Eric handles it directly, so nothing gets lost between a salesperson and a crew.

Color help before you commit

Stuck on color? We'll work it out first. Federal Hill rowhomes get good harbor light, so we pick tones that hold up in bright rooms and next to original trim.

Services – Federal Hill, MD

Interior Painting

Walls, ceilings, trim, and whole rooms. Federal Hill rowhomes are narrow and multi-floor, and we handle a lot of pre-sale refreshes given how the market moves here.

Exterior Painting

Brick and formstone fronts, cornices, trim, and doors. In the historic district, exterior color work can need review, and we paint within that.

Cabinet Painting

Refinishing cabinets beats replacing them on cost and turns a kitchen around fast, a good fit for the compact kitchens in these older rowhomes.

Commercial Painting

We take on commercial work too: offices, storefronts, and shared spaces along Light and Charles Streets and around Cross Street Market.

FAQs

Yes. Older plaster needs patching and careful prep, and original trim is worth painting well rather than fast. We plan for both.

Interior painting doesn't. The district's rules cover exterior changes, so an exterior color change can need review, and we're glad to work within it.

Yes, with a vinyl-safe paint so the panels hold their shape, which rules out the darkest colors. It's uncommon in the historic core but shows up on newer additions.

We run Sherwin-Williams across the board for how well it wears. In a busy rowhome, the better paint earns its keep.

Yes. Bring it up during the estimate and we'll lay out what's available.

We do, one year, and it's spelled out in the contract you sign.
