Bringing Elegance Home: The Top 4 White Interior Paint Colors for Timeless Beauty 2024

When it comes to interior design, few things evoke a sense of timeless elegance and versatility quite like the classic white wall. White interiors not only create a bright and airy atmosphere but also serve as a blank canvas for showcasing your personal style. In the world of painting, choosing the right shade of white can make all the difference. Today, we’ll explore the top 4 white interior paint colors that are sure to transform your living spaces into havens of sophistication and charm.

These are the top 4 white colors we have used at Paint Perfection over the past two years.

  1. Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore: Chantilly lace is without a doubt my favorite white of all time. It has a relatively high LRV of 90.04. LRV is a measurement of how much light is reflected and ultimately how bright and airy it will make your home feel. The higher the LRV the closer the color is to “Pure White”. The major difference between white paint colors are the undertones that particular white has, Chantilly Lace has a very slight yellowish undertone when in low light, this makes it a good choice for a warmer color palate.
  2. Extra White by Sherwin Williams: Extra white is a very crisp and clean white, which has an LRV of 86 making it a very bright white color. Extra white is often used for trim, but we have also used it for walls as well. Extra white gives a very clean and modern feel to the space and has very little undertones in direct light, it typically takes the color of the light source. In shade or low light conditions, extra white has a very slight blue undertone giving the room a cooler feel. Extra white is a base color for Sherwin Williams, so if you buy it you will not have to have the paint tinted. This is the color I used for my personal home.
  3. Alabaster by Sherwin Williams: Alabaster in my opinion is more of an off white. When I look at it, it has enough color to it that I would not classify it as a pure white. Alabaster has been one of the most popular white color for 2023 by far, and is often recommended by interior decorators for its versatility and warm feeling it gives a room. Alabaster has an LRV of 82. If I visit a client and they mention they are using an interior decorator, Its a safe bet that they are recommending Alabaster for the homes main color.
  4. Greek Villa by Sherwin Williams: Greek Villa is very similar to Alabaster, but I would argue it is one step closer to a “pure white”. It has a very slight off white color, and has warm undertones just like Alabaster. I would say Greek Villa and Alabaster are very close cousins, my personal favorite is Greek Villa between those two choices, due to my preference for a more “pure white”. I would say overall we have painted more homes in Greek Villa in 2023 than any other color, making it a very popular choice.

After reading this post are you more confused than ever? Let me try to help and simplify your options. If you are looking for a very pure white, and want more of a modern feel, I would suggest Chantilly Lace or Extra White.

Are you looking for more of an off white? That creates a warm and inviting feel to your home? In this case I would suggest Greek Villa by Sherwin Williams.

Most importantly, I would suggest getting samples of each and paint and painting a 3×3 foot area of your home in different rooms that receive different amounts of light to appreciate the differences and figure out which is your personal favorite.
